Class Descriptions
Jazz:
Jazz classes explore body isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions, terminology, turns, kicks, leaps, choreography combinations and proper Jazz technique. Classes are taught to fun, upbeat music. Jazz classes are for dancers who like precision and rhythm, physical challenges, and personal style and expression.
Tap:
Tap is a form of dance using the (tap) shoe, as well as the floor. Tap classes focuses on the rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet and floor, highlighting the importance of rhythm, sound and timing.
Lyrical:
A fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Dancers will learn the proper technique along with how to express emotion through movement.
Contemporary:
A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance encourages versatility in their expressions, improvisation and focuses on helping dancers reach new heights in their creativity and style. The focus is on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, leaps, turns, efficiency of muscle usage, and safe body alignment.
Ballet:
A classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base/foundation or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet, legs and execution of turnout. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all ballet classes.
Pre-Pointe/Pointe:
Pre-Pointe/Pointe classes are by invitation only. Each student needs to be evaluated by our ballet teacher and the studio owner before entering a Pre-Pointe or Pointe class. We take the dancer's safety very seriously and encourage at home strength-training programs specified by our staff for each dancer individually.
Hip Hop:
A high-energy class that includes a wide range of styles including the basics of breaking, locking and popping, as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. In Hip Hop classes, you will hear the latest music in today’s popular age appropriate music, rap, R&B and pop music.
Acro:
A style of dance that is a fusion of classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. Dancers gain tremendous strength and flexibility in Acro, and learn how to do tumbling tricks from cartwheels and back bends to back tucks and more. Our acro classes utilize tumbling mats and instructor spotting for the safety of our students. Appropriate level and ability will be determined by age first and then the instructor after student has been in class.

Musical Theater:
Musical Theater is a theatrical dance style that includes dancing and acting to songs from Broadway musicals. Students will learn basics of character and jazz dance while dancing, and using movement to tell a story.
Modern:
Modern is an expressive form of dance in which we explore the movement of the body and the expression of emotion through dance and the elements around us. By not teaching one specific modern technique, we aim to educate our students on multiple professional techniques, the history of modern, and encourage them to express their own creativity and grow their movement vocabulary using improvisation, contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time and force.
